Developing UI skills and a cohesive visual language
The project started as a design exercise in Figma and was later brought to life in Framer. I worked from a brief generated by ChatGPT, which took on the role of a client running a mental health startup.
My goal was to practice the full design process — from interpreting the brand’s needs and researching the market to exploring visual directions, designing the interface, and building the final one-page website.
I focused particularly on UI refinement and creating a cohesive visual system where every element — from colors and illustrations to photography and graphic details — feels like part of the same visual language.
Using a dark interface to create a distinctive identity
One of the main challenges was creating a website that would stand out from the visual conventions commonly used by mental health brands. I wanted to move away from typical light interfaces while still maintaining a calm and balanced feel.
Another challenge was creating custom visuals that felt intentional rather than like unrelated illustrations placed throughout the page. I researched different visual directions and recurring patterns used by wellbeing brands to find an approach that could support the overall identity.
I ultimately chose light visuals enhanced with subtle purple gradients and delicate borders. This created contrast against the dark interface while making the illustrations feel like an integral part of the overall composition.
A cohesive visual system built on intentional design decisions
The final design combines a modern interface with a visual language associated with calm and balance. The dark theme, subtle gradients, illustrations, and nature-inspired photography work together as one consistent visual system.
The project gave me the opportunity to work through the entire process — from interpreting an AI-generated brief and researching different visual directions to designing the website in Figma and building the final experience in Framer, including animations and interactive effects.
